I realized something important today. Important to me anyway, but maybe of more general importance.

I have lost interest in Donald Trump and even more so in the evermore repulsive MAGA movement.

They have lost the plot. The plot is freedom. Freedom is the path not only to prosperity or the pursuit of happiness but above all the path to power.

In so far as MAGA has any distinctive ideas of its own they are hostile to freedom. I don’t mean that in the way the feverish TDS left means it. Much of that still seems ridiculous to me, though I am impressed by any movement so hostile to civil liberties that it makes me cheer for Harvard.

I mean MAGA no longer believe free people in free markets hold a power advantage against all comers.

MAGA has missed the moment, misread the signs of the times.A new coalition of liberty is rising in America. Trump and his people will be left out in the dark where there is a wailing and gnashing of teeth.I am still in the hospital (after actual, honest-to-goodness brain surgery!). It is painful to follow a computer screen, so I will not type anymore tonight. But I think this space will get far more interesting for having left the irrelevant Mr. Trump behind.
