It has long been clear that Israel is our most important ally. The fecundity of Israeli technology will be more important to building a second American century than anything the Germans, the French, the Brits, or even the Taiwanese can offer. That’s been clear for a while.
The videos from Ukraine seem to show that infantry is as obsolete as armor in the age of the FPV drone.
Are you neglecting antisatellite warfare? Modern and near-future weaponry at all levels depends on reconnaissance, positioning and communications, which in turn increasingly rely on satellite systems, predictable in their orbits and vulnerable to missile, electronic and laser attack.
The infantry may not be quite obsolete, but the war of maneuver has been halted again just as it was in WWI. So bloody and futile, but I think armies will still go at it.
Anti-satellite warfare is real, but when the locus of military innovation shifts, it tends not o shift back. The. machine gun eliminated the cavalry but counters to the machine gun--tanks essentially--did not bring the cavalry back. Likely there will be a huge effort for warring parties to take out each others' satellites but unless one and only one side is completely successful ships moving even at top speed will remain virtually stationary targets, weeks and weeks on their journeys. So I don't think anti-satelite warfare will bring back the navy.
Of course no one knows for sure. But for sure I am glad when readers contribute intelliigently to the discussion. So thanks and I hope to here from you again.
Oh, yeah, like totally, Richard. When those ICBM's come arcing over the Pole, and NORAD is helpless to stop them, the IDF will be standing tall in harm's way. God, how much do they pay you to write this garbage?

Good points. Thank you.
